When the Lord has something on His mind, He will not allow it to leave the forefront of your spirit. He will continually bring it up with a conviction that won’t relent, like a fire shut up in your bones. And, even in the light of researching this …… I was ready to leave it and forget it because I had gotten to a point where I felt I couldn’t go any further. But then independently on another post that the Lord directed me to post, someone confirmed it by the comment they made, so I knew the Lord was telling me to keep going.
The Lord wants to correct some teachings about His Word, as it is written, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). I’m not here to call anyone out, I am simply obeying the Lord in what He asked me to write and dispel some religious thinking on.
The Lord wants to address precept upon precept, line upon line, as addressed in Isaiah 28:13.
The Pharisees and Sadducees relied heavily on precept upon precept, line upon line, and when we look at the Hebrew text of it in Isaiah 28:13, it says, “But the word of the Lord WAS TO THEM, “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little,” That they might go and fall backward, and be broken And snared and caught. The Lord NEVER wanted His Word to be precept upon precept, line upon line. If we break down a lot of the scriptures in Isaiah 28, we will see that the Lord was referencing the Pharisees and Sadducees. As we’ve heard the Old Testament is Christ concealed, and the New Testament is Christ revealed. See bolded scriptures are in the New Testament.
John 5:39 You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those very Scriptures that testify about Me
2 Peter 1:20-21 But understand this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of or comes from one’s own personal or special interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
I love when the Holy Spirit gives me revelation and/or points out a scripture to interpret a scripture, or as we’ve heard let the Bible interpret the Bible.
Most of these I received by Holy Spirit revelation, some I needed a little help. So let’s dig ………
Isaiah 28 New King James Version (NKJV)
Woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem
Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim,
Whose glorious beauty is a fading flower
Which is at the head of the verdant valleys,
To those who are overcome with wine!
Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one,
Like a tempest of hail and a destroying storm,
Like a flood of mighty waters overflowing,
Who will bring them down to the earth with His hand.
The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim,
Will be trampled underfoot;
And the glorious beauty is a fading flower
Which is at the head of the verdant valley,
Like the first fruit before the summer,
Which an observer sees;
He eats it up while it is still in his hand.
In that day the Lord of hosts will be
For a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty
To the remnant of His people,
For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment,
And for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
But they also have erred through wine,
And through intoxicating drink are out of the way;
The priest and the prophet have erred through intoxicating drink,
They are swallowed up by wine,
They are out of the way through intoxicating drink;
They err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
For all tables are full of vomit and filth;
No place is clean.
Proverbs 26:11 Like a dog that returns to his vomit Is a fool who repeats his foolishness.
2 Peter 2:19-22 They promise them liberty, when they themselves are the slaves of depravity—for by whatever anyone is defeated and overcome, to that person, thing, philosophy, or concept he is continually enslaved. For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world by personal knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, their last condition has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them not to have personally known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to have turned back from the holy commandment verbally handed on to them. The thing spoken of in the true proverb has happened to them, “The dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “A sow is washed only to wallow again in the mire.”
“Whom will he teach knowledge?
And whom will he make to understand the message?
Those just weaned from milk?
Those just drawn from the breasts?
Galatians 4:1-7 Now what I mean when I talk about children and their guardians is this: as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave even though he is the future owner and master of all the estate; but he is under the authority of guardians and household administrators or managers until the date set by his father when he is of legal age. So also we whether Jews or Gentiles, when we were children spiritually immature, were kept like slaves under the elementary man-made religious or philosophical teachings of the world. But when in God’s plan the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the regulations of the Law, so that He might redeem and liberate those who were under the Law, that we who believe might be adopted as sons as God’s children with all rights as fully grown members of a family. And because you really are His sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave bond-servant, but a son; and if a son, then also an heir through the gracious act of God through Christ.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little.”
For with stammering lips and another tongue
He will speak to this people,
1 Corinthians 14:20-23 Brothers and sisters, do not be children immature, childlike in your thinking; be infants in matters of evil completely innocent and inexperienced, but in your minds be mature adults. It is written in the Law, “By men of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, and not even then will they listen to Me,” says the Lord. Therefore, unknown tongues are meant for a supernatural sign, not to believers but to unbelievers who might be receptive; while prophecy foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people is not for unbelievers but for believers. So then, if the whole church gathers together and all of you speak in unknown tongues, and outsiders or those who are not gifted in spiritual matters or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth full and complete truth. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears from the Father—the message regarding the Son, and He will disclose to you what is to come in the future.
To whom He said, “This is the rest with which
You may cause the weary to rest,”
And, “This is the refreshing”;
Yet they would not hear.
But the word of the Lord was to them,
“Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little,”
That they might go and fall backward, and be broken
And snared and caught.
Galatians 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scornful men,
Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,
Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
And with Sheol we are in agreement.
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
It will not come to us,
For we have made lies our refuge,
And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.”
A Cornerstone in Zion
16 Therefore thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
Whoever believes will not act hastily.
1 Peter 2:6-8 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
Romans 9:30-33 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness who did not seek salvation and a right relationship with God, nevertheless obtained righteousness, that is, the righteousness which is produced by faith; whereas Israel, though always pursuing the law of righteousness, did not succeed in fulfilling the law. And why not? Because it was not by faith that they pursued it, but as though it were by works relying on the merit of their works instead of their faith. They stumbled over the stumbling Stone Jesus Christ. As it is written and forever remains written, “Behold I am laying in Zion a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense; And he who believes in Him whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him will not be disappointed in his expectations.”
Also I will make justice the measuring line,
And righteousness the plummet;
The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
And the waters will overflow the hiding place.
Job 38:4-6 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you know and have understanding. “Who determined the measurements of the earth, if you know? Or who stretched the measuring line on it? “On what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone
Your covenant with death will be annulled,
And your agreement with Sheol will not stand;
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
Then you will be trampled down by it.
Hebrews 7:17-19 For He testifies: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
2 Corinthians 3:7-11 Now if the ministry of death, engraved in letters on stones the covenant of the Law which led to death because of sin, came with such glory and splendor that the Israelites were not able to look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, a brilliance that was fading, how will the ministry of the Spirit the new covenant which allows us to be Spirit-filled fail to be even more glorious and splendid? For if the ministry that brings condemnation the old covenant, the Law has glory, how much more does glory overflow in the ministry that brings righteousness the new covenant which declares believers free of guilt and sets them apart for God’s special purpose! Indeed, what had glory the Law, in this case no longer has glory because of the glory that surpasses it the gospel. For if that Law which fades away came with glory, how much more must that gospel which remains and is permanent abide in glory and splendor!
As often as it goes out it will take you;
For morning by morning it will pass over,
And by day and by night;
It will be a terror just to understand the report.”
For the bed is too short to stretch out on,
And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it.
For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim,
He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon—
That He may do His work, His awesome work,
And bring to pass His act, His unusual act.
Now therefore, do not be mockers,
Lest your bonds be made strong;
For I have heard from the Lord God of hosts,
A destruction determined even upon the whole earth.
Listen to the Teaching of God
Give ear and hear my voice,
Listen and hear my speech.
Does the plowman keep plowing all day to sow?
Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods?
When he has leveled its surface,
Does he not sow the black cummin
And scatter the cummin,
Plant the wheat in rows,
The barley in the appointed place,
And the spelt in its place?
For He instructs him in right judgment,
His God teaches him.
For the black cummin is not threshed with a threshing sledge,
Nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cummin;
But the black cummin is beaten out with a stick,
And the cummin with a rod.
Bread flour must be ground;
Therefore he does not thresh it forever,
Break it with his cartwheel,
Or crush it with his horsemen.
This also comes from the Lord of hosts,
Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.
Isaiah 29 New King James Version (NKJV)
Woe to Jerusalem
“Woe to Ariel,[a] to Ariel, the city where David dwelt!
Add year to year;
Let feasts come around.
Yet I will distress Ariel;
There shall be heaviness and sorrow,
And it shall be to Me as Ariel.
I will encamp against you all around,
I will lay siege against you with a mound,
And I will raise siegeworks against you.
You shall be brought down,
You shall speak out of the ground;
Your speech shall be low, out of the dust;
Your voice shall be like a medium’s, out of the ground;
And your speech shall whisper out of the dust.
“Moreover the multitude of your foes
Shall be like fine dust,
And the multitude of the terrible ones
Like chaff that passes away;
Yes, it shall be in an instant, suddenly.
You will be punished by the Lord of hosts
With thunder and earthquake and great noise,
With storm and tempest
And the flame of devouring fire.
The multitude of all the nations who fight against Ariel,
Even all who fight against her and her fortress,
And distress her,
Shall be as a dream of a night vision.
It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams,
And look—he eats;
But he awakes, and his soul is still empty;
Or as when a thirsty man dreams,
And look—he drinks;
But he awakes, and indeed he is faint,
And his soul still craves:
So the multitude of all the nations shall be,
Who fight against Mount Zion.”
The Blindness of Disobedience
Pause and wonder!
Blind yourselves and be blind!
They are drunk, but not with wine;
They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.
For the Lord has poured out on you
The spirit of deep sleep,
And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.
Romans 11:7-8 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear; unto this day.
11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”
12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I am not literate.”
13 Therefore the Lord said:
“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
Matthew 15:7-14 You hypocrites play-actors, pretenders, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said, ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. ‘But in vain do they worship Me, For they teach as doctrines the precepts of men.’” After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said, “Listen and understand this: It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that defiles and dishonors him, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles and dishonors him.” Then the disciples came and said to Jesus, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard you say this?” He answered, “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant will be torn up by the roots. Leave them alone; they are blind guides leading blind followers. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”
Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work
Among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”
1 Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord,
And their works are in the dark;
They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?”
Surely you have things turned around!
Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the thing made say of him who made it,
“He did not make me”?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?
Romans 9:19-21 You will say to me then, “Why does He still blame me for sinning? For who including myself has ever resisted His will and purpose?” On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers arrogantly back to God and dares to defy Him? Will the thing which is formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” Does the potter not have the right over the clay, to make from the same lump of clay one object for honorable use something beautiful or distinctive and another for common use something ordinary or menial?
Romans 10:11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him will not be disappointed in his expectations.”
Yes Future Recovery of Wisdom
Is it not yet a very little while
Till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?
In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book,
And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord,
And the poor among men shall rejoice
In the Holy One of Israel.
For the terrible one is brought to nothing,
The scornful one is consumed,
And all who watch for iniquity are cut off—
Who make a man an offender by a word,
And lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
And turn aside the just by empty words.
22 Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:
“Jacob shall not now be ashamed,
Nor shall his face now grow pale;
But when he sees his children,
The work of My hands, in his midst,
They will hallow My name,
And hallow the Holy One of Jacob,
And fear the God of Israel.
These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding,
And those who complained will learn doctrine.”
1 Corinthians 1:28-31 God has selected for His purpose the insignificant base things of the world, and the things that are despised and treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing, so that He might reduce to nothing the things that are, so that no one may be able to boast in the presence of God. But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God revealing His plan of salvation, and righteousness making us acceptable to God, and sanctification making us holy and setting us apart for God, and redemption providing our ransom from the penalty for sin, so then, as it is written in Scripture, “He who boasts and glories, let him boast and glory in the Lord.”
